Animal protection/animal welfare

The veterinary practice without borders in Dr. Wontorra's Center for Animals and People in Mettmann has set itself the primary goal of promoting animal welfare and animal health for animals of low-income people in Germany who cannot afford veterinary treatment.

Increased energy and living costs, including for animal feed, as well as an increase in veterinary services in accordance with the Fees Ordinance have increasingly led to low-income people no longer being able to afford veterinary treatment for their pets.

Often the only way out is to hand the pet over to an animal shelter. The veterinary practice therefore carries out treatments once a week for pets from this group of people, which are financed exclusively from donations.

Free animal treatment cannot be offered due to the existing regulations. The practice is therefore dependent on donations. For a small animal treatment we have assumed costs of approx. 60.00 €.

This means that we have reached around 100 people in need with their small animals. With this donation, this veterinary practice can provide sick animals of low-income people with the necessary medication, veterinary services and food.
