Món-La Bassa was founded in 2007 when Laia Galeano, the founder, began rescuing
animals to give them a dignified life without pain and
suffering.
Almost 500 animals live on the farm. Some animals are taken in temporarily until a good home is found for them,
while others live there permanently. Món-La Bassa is therefore also a meeting place and school for children and older people.
Món-La Bassa was founded in 2007 when Laia Galeano, the founder, began rescuing animals to give them a dignified life without pain and suffering.
Món-La Bassa is a very special animal sanctuary for abandoned animals rescued from mistreatment and poor animal husbandry in BCN Spain, which gives around 400 animals a second chance at a loving home.
"La bassa" is a space in nature where animals live and invite people to live with them, to respect and love them. From this perspective, people find in "La Bassa" a space for personal growth, for lively education and for responsible coexistence.
As a result, Món-La Bassa has also become a meeting place for children with the animals, with many school trips taking place there. Món-La Bassa is also home to a small school for children with special needs, creating a truly special place of love and education.
Our association has been supporting Món-La Bassa with donations since 2020 so that the animals are provided with food all year round, especially during the winter.
Our initiator and co-founder Dr. Angels Munoz received a call for help that Món-La Bassa was on the brink of collapse due to coronavirus. The donations, which were otherwise always received in large numbers at Christmas, had failed to materialize.
There were now numerous unpaid vet bills and animal feed bills, all of which had to be paid immediately. Our association supported the TierSanctuary in 2020, 2021 and 2023 with € 10,000 each. This enabled around 400 animals to be provided with food and thus saved Món-La Bassa over the winter.
Our association has continued to support Món-La Bassa as the main donor since 2024 with extensive additional donations: 30,000 euros have been donated to support animal feed and medicines to maintain the animal sanctuary. This has enabled around 500 animals to be cared for and rescued.
Through a large-scale campaign in 2025, we have already donated 13,028 to support the TierSancuary and the adjacent school.
